Atlas vs Hiring An Editor And A Designer

Posting every day with a freelance reel editor and a designer typically costs €1,000 to €1,900 a month, and each piece takes days to come back. Atlas makes the reels, carousels and story sequences from a few hundred euros a month, carousels and stories in minutes and videos in a few minutes to 2 hours. A human editor is still the better pick for long-form videos, heavy motion graphics or a one-off brand film.

  • You want the same proven style on every video, the same day you record
  • You would rather spend a few hundred a month than €1,000 or more

An Editor At A Glance

Most creators and founders hire a short-form editor on Upwork, Fiverr or through referrals, plus a designer for carousels and stories. Rates we pay and see in the market for reels: about €10 to €15 for a simple edit, €20 to €30 for a more complex one and €40 to €100 or more with motion graphics. Carousels from designers start at about €20 to €50 each.

Market guides quote more. Upwork's own page puts a single short video edit at €75 to €300, editor rate guides put a talking-head reel with captions at roughly €50 to €400 depending on level, and monthly retainers for 8 to 20 reels run about €1,500 to €6,000. Carousels with copywriting run €150 to €350 each.

The Cost Of Posting Every Day

Posting daily is about 30 reels a month. At €10 to €15 a simple reel that is €300 to €450, at €20 to €30 a more complex one €600 to €900, and with motion graphics €1,200 to €3,000 or more.

Add a designer for 12 carousels at €20 to €50 and 12 story sequences at about €15 to €30, and a typical daily setup lands at about €1,000 to €1,900 a month. These are estimates from the rates above, not quotes.

Atlas plans start at a few hundred euros a month, with carousels and story sequences included.

Where An Editor Still Wins

A good editor brings taste and judgement on a one-off piece, handles long-form and complex motion graphics, and can join a shoot. If that is what you need, hire one.

Many people use both: Atlas for the daily reels, carousels and stories, an editor for the occasional big video. You can export any Atlas edit to Premiere Pro or CapCut and hand it over.

Questions

Is Atlas cheaper than an editor?
For daily posting, usually yes. Plans start at a few hundred euros a month with carousels and story sequences included, against about €1,000 to €1,900 a month for a freelance editor and designer at typical rates. For a few videos a month, a cheap editor can cost less.
Is the quality as good as a human editor?
Each style is rebuilt from real reels of creators who grow, down to the pacing, zooms and b-roll rhythm, and Atlas Intelligence checks every edit before you see it. A skilled editor still beats it on one-off creative work and heavy motion graphics.
Can my editor keep working on Atlas edits?
Yes. Export any edit to Adobe Premiere Pro or CapCut and they pick it up from there.
